Story
What is Nano_Lot?
Nano_Lot cocoas are available on an extremely limited basis and consequently only at specific times of the year, meaning once they are gone, they are gone. Those that Naive
has chosen
to feature boast the highest ratings, are of rarest quantities and provide the unique tasting experience. We strongly believe that these are the world's best cocoas because of the amount of R&D given to them.
Finca La Rioja is a tiny farm located in Cacahoatan, Chiapas, Mexico. Just for the record, Cacahoatan means the "Place of Cacao" in the ancient Toltec language, so there is little debate about the significance of this place for a chocolate maker like Naive. The history of cocoa in the Southeast of Mexico dates back to pre-colonial times. Chiapas was the centre of cacao commerce in Mesoamerica when Spaniards reached the area in 1522. What is more, the first cacao brought to Europe to the Spanish court came from Chiapas too. We would like you to explore the very best of Mexican cacao that comes from La Rioja farm with two different harvest time bars inside of this chocolate box!
Features
Pod: A mix of heirloom cacao varieties is grown on the farm including pentagona, lagarto and some ancient criollo types too. T
he yearly harvest of these old varieties is of approximately 70-140 kilograms a year and it ideally complies with Naive nanolot cacao concept.
Bean: Both lots were fermented in the wooden boxes for 5 days and turned 3 times a day. The beans were dried on wooden beds in the sun.
Flavour: The experience reveals the significance of harvest time for the end flavour. The climate conditions greatly influence the end result with one of the bars being temperamental and intense and other being deep and more subtle.
Aftertaste: Initial punch is followed by lingering chocolate aftertaste for up to 8 minutes.
Quality: The first lot is very strong and characteristic while the second one is a bit milder and more rounded too.

cacao, sugar, cacao butter.
