Hello Elly. We agree ,it can be confusing a bit. Using bourbon cask for aging is a new trend that started in the US (the biggest producer of bourbon) and became popular due to a very distinctive effect on the final taste of chocolate. If you want something that is filled with alcohol you can always try hand-scooped chocolate by Zotter with tequila and scotch whiskey. Those bars are directly infused with quality spirits.
As for the price point, let us slightly disagree. It is not high but the right price of real chocolate. Relatively cheap price of mass-market chocolate bars you can find on the shelves is based on a historically low price of cheap flavourless bulky cacao beans (mostly from West Africa), fair amount of palm oil and the array of preservatives and artificial additives. On the opposite, we work only with those brands that support fair and sustainable practices, exceptional quality due to minimalistic approach towards ingredients and production practices that is reflected in the price of the final product. We already used to the idea that cheap wine is probably not the best option when you want to have a pleasant evening (and harmless morning). It seems like craft chocolate has just started it's journey along that way. Anyway, thanks for shopping with us and we hope to hear from you again. Stay safe and healthy. Say chocolate!
